The UPS man and I have become great friends
This week all my new sticks showed up and I re-gripped them myself (which BTW, is so friggen easy it makes me sick)
See WITB link in the Golf Equipment forum to view
With everythng in place, ranges just opened it was time to head out

I have been really busy w work this week, so I rushed through some approvals to get out to the range
The weather was absolute shit today
30+ km/hr winds, cloudy and there is over an inch of snow in the forecast...I made the best of what I had

All I wanted to do was concentrate on a full swing again and contact....distance didnt even cross my mind
First swing I skulled a 9i dead right!! hahah!
ok....get ur head together dude

Next swing was nice...PURE...wow...I missed that Nike Forged feeling
The range literally opened 2 days ago and it is NOT in good shape
its like hitting off rock hard dirt w very minimal grass-kinda frusterating
I proceeded to hit 9-5 and then 3i, then back to my wedges
All in all...im rusty...wasnt dissapointed, but I need work to say the least
i started wearing a glove this year for shots above 130yds....cant believe what i was missing

Pulled driver and 4w for about 10 balls
I was fighting a pull hook about 40 yds today....it wasnt pretty
Comin OTT a bit I think...thats ok...I can fix it w more time (I was kinda rushed to get home on time to pick my kid up)

So, the large bucket I hit was just OK
But i really like my new CCi's, very happy w them
off to the practice green

Pulled my 54 wedge for some chip shots......too much..grabbed the 58....much better for greenside chips
was hitting into the wind, trying to get the ball to check up....by then end of about 10 balls i got some feel back
it crazy how you lose feel over the winter....but i like the new 58 ALOT! it will be a nice addition

Putting
I actually putted great!
i had ZERO feel but they were dropping
I am trying a new overlap grip to quiet my hands this year...so far I like it
was making some good 8 footers today

Thats about all i had time for today, was a quick hour session
Things to work on:

-coming OTT on drives
-getting used to overlap grip w putter
-greenside chips
-GETTING FEEL BACK!!!

I have my first round booked for Sat or Sunday weather pending
As mentioned we are expecting an inch of snow tonight-hope it doesnt stay long
The course needs some moisture
It looks like fall right now - leaves everywhere and pretty brown...ah well, it IS ONLY April 8 today

Will report back after round one
Really not putting any expectations on myslef, other than good contact and getting feel back
If i shoot in the mid to low 80's, I will be happy w that for round one

I was just grinding your gears about the spelling man - and sorry about the weather. Apparently the low pressure system that's wreaking havoc in SK developed about an hour west of here.

It's good you got to hit the new sticks, but now you're probably even more eager.

Yeah, some time on Sunday our winds are supposed to switch from NW to SE. That means a few more crappy weather days for Albertans, just in reverse.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
