The Road to 0.0 Pt. 5 - First Round of the Year

wow...before i get too far into this, I may have to rename the BLOG, "The Road to 10"! hahaha....er 16! hahah!

ok heres the scenario

- +18 out AND E-FFIN WINDY!! (over 30km/hr winds)
-course is in ok shape .... it's early though, still fall leaves on the ground and some grass mold
-this will get better as we get some heat and things dry up (we recently got dumped on rain AND snow...it's wet)
-im just gonna get right to it...my goal was to break 90...I did...i shot 88...yep I ended the year at 3.6 and I shot 88 today

Here's why (my excuses):

-putted like shit..literally.....34 putts
-i tried a new grip, switched back after 13 holes and only had 7 putts on the last 5 holes...gonna stick w what i know
-chipped even worse.....trying to find feel and used to new wedge lofts-went from 52/56 to 54/58
-had a few iron shots that were terrible....2 fats and one bad thin almost skulled 4i
-the course was tough to read the ground-I mean, when it was wet, dry etc....
-my course mgmnt sucked, as I was trying a bunch of new clubs

What was good:
-I drove the ball like a mad man - I hit it a MILE today
-although my FWY's hit were crap, only hitting 5/13 = 38.4%..the ones i missed were just baerly in the rough, like a clublength at most
-i really like the new Penta Ball

I really am ok with this score
you might look at it and say..."dude.....ur a 4 and shot 88...how is that good?"
Keep in mind i did NOT swing a club until 3 weeks ago, and that was only one indoor and one outdoor session
I was at the course from 9am to 5pm today....all that practice helped for sure
If i hit the course everyday in the am for at least an hour or hour and a hlf working short game......it will come around

well there it is....first round is done
I have another 18 tomorrow....it should be better
Altough 0.0 (scratch) golfer is the goal......it might be a wakeup call!!!! hahahah!!

ahh...it's too early to say that yet!!

PS - I needed new shoes bad too...i only got one year out of My Adidas Tour 3.0's (approx. 40 rnds)
My feet were killing me
Went to Golf Town and Bought some new FJ Sports - cant wait to try them tomorrow

Oh man, and I thought my first round was painful. Actually considering it was ~ 18C with a 10-15kph wind when I played, I did worse.

well today was much better
i still didnt shoot awesome, but it was better
i had one hole that was terrible and a double, but it was ugly
shot an 81 today....better than yesterday, mbut still struggling w the flatstick at 34 putts today

that;s ok though, its coming around as i made 2 birdies today one of them was a lip out eagle

Wedges - man i can get used to this new 54/58 set up
i had them checked today and they were actuall well off
the 54 was 55.5 and the 58 was 59.75.....no friggen wonder

so i had them bent back to
52 and 56, as this is what worked best last year
guess i will see next round out
