  1. 1. Should twosomes join up if slow play has them both waiting?

I wouldn't feel guilty. If I were to ask to join another group and they declined, I would realize it was for a good reason or they were a jerk. Fine either way.

If I'm playing alone and I catch up with a short-handed group on a full course and they invite me to play through, I'll usually just ask if they mind if I join them.  If they decline, then I'll usually decline to pass them.  I'd rather wait behind a smaller group than behind a full foursome, because they will usually clear the green faster.  That way I have less time waiting around while they putt out.  For me, it's easier on my psyche to wait on the tee than it is to wait in the fairway.

And besides, that way I can stand there behind them and stare them down all the way around the course to make them regret not inviting me to join them. :smartass:

Have you talked to your wife about this? Bring it up in the clubhouse after a round, especially if other women are at the table.

This is about "sharing the culture." You may appear confrontational if you suddenly bring it up on course.

Focus, connect and follow through!

My wife is the extrovert and I'm the introvert so I'm less comfortable than she is pairing up with strangers - but I definitely invite the other twosome to join up every time.  It's the just the sensible thing to do and, even though I'm usually uncomfortable at first, it's always a good time.  Put it this way . .it's a LOT more comfortable than knowing people are waiting on me for each shot.  Even though it's not my fault they're waiting, I'd rather have a comfortable pace of play vs the group behind waiting on us while we wait on the group ahead.

When I started playing I was nervous about playing with other people. I play a lot by myself but now enjoy it when I have the oppurtunity to ask someone if they'd like to play together, or be asked to play with others. I put it out there that I'm not very good so take it or leave it & every time so far I've had a good time even making some new golf buddies. I've learned that there's pretty good odds that they probably aren't any better than me. There's way more bad golfers than good ones

    • No Relief When Clearly Unreasonable to Play Ball. There is no relief under Rule 16.1: When playing the ball as it lies would be clearly unreasonable because of something from which the player is not allowed to take free relief (such as when a player is unable to make a stroke because of where the ball lies in a bush), or  When interference exists only because a player chooses a club, type of stance or swing or direction of play that is clearly unreasonable under the circumstances. Either/both of the above would seem to apply
    • Day 351 - Went to a new golf sim in the area, pretty cool place. Not sure why, but it seems I always have more of a draw/hook on sims than on the course. I still played well, but just odd.
    • Day 171: mirror work while watching tv. Working on cleaning up the backswing stuff.
    • Day 25: 1/4/2025 Mirror day. I did some good mirror work with a 7 iron. Once again focus here is on pushing the carpet away with my lead leg. Sort of like I'm sitting in a office chair and want to scoot across the room.  Later, I used the putting mirror on the putting mat. Rolling 8 footers down a straight line on the mat.
