If the white contrast against green for some reason doesn't show up better, well then it just looks cool.....lol

is that your opinion or fact ?  have you tried it for yourself or just don't think the idea will pan out ?

Perhaps I am alone here, but I can't remember the last time I watched the ball leave the clubface?  Do I close my eyes at impact?

it happens to fast....... I recall reading something about impact happening in 3 milli seconds or something like that.

anyhow, not saying it will let you see impact, just hopping the color contrast allows me to see the swing path a little easier through impact. just an idea that made sense to me when i was thinking about one day while putting with my ghost putter.  I am sure if it is some sort of benefit we will see Taylormade extolling the virtue of a white driver in their marketing hype of the R11.

given the nature of golf equipment marketing I am sure they will come up with some reason why you will hit the ball 10 yards further as well.  lol

I can see the advertisements  now,  the white head looks lighter and your neuro sensory input will tell the muscular control center of the brain it is lighter and allow you to increase your swing speed by x factor......our scientist say so........LOL

Well, the story that has already been spun is that the head contrasts with the grass better, improving the perception of alignment.

But what would I know... my driver is 5 years old now.

but make no mistake guys, i did it just because I thought it would look cool and didn't want to wait for the R11 to replace my FUBAR R9 .  the skyrocket marks on mine were  driving me nuts.

the whole swing path contrast thing is just an idea I had...we will see how it works out

my story ?  or is that what tailor-made is pitching ?   the only ads I have seen for the R11 is Tv commercial with that song that sticks in your head....one of these things is different then the other....your so smart...... lol   my wife sez ...if she hears that one more time she is unplugging the TV. ( fawk the commercial just came on as I am typing this reply )

As for the white Ghost putter,  I love the white and yes I think it aids in alignment.

Shoot.....my race TT bike is more expensive then my cars.  I've been racing for 22 years.  I'm sticking to sprint and Oly races now.  I can't get into the Ironman races any more.  I've done 2 of them and thats enough.

Golf MAY some day be more expensive then triathlons.....but not yet.  Bike stuff is expensive.  I've got a guy making a custom TT chainring for me on his cnc machine and he'll anodize the chainring gold to match my bike and engrave my name on the face of the chainring!!

If you buy a really good driver its still not near as expensive as a good race front wheel : )

I built a really solid touring bike...I can't even fathom building something race-worthy and built around carbon. You could have a top of the line complete bag of clubs for less than a carbon tri frame.

Have you hit this since you painted it?

The reason I ask, and don't jump all over me for this, is my immediate concern was a difference in swingweight. It could play like an entirely new driver that you'd have to get used to. Or not. I don't know.

I have a set of race wheels that cost more then all my clubs and bag put together : )  My tri frame alone (no parts or wheels) cost...let's see.....about 10X more then my Ping G10's.  Bike stuff is crazy expensive.

NO I have not , I just finished it last night. Are you suggesting that white paint has a higher specific gravity then black ? I don't think that the white paint job is any thicker then the black one but I didn't measure so I can't say for certain.

Paint the bottom lines that were normally white, black and the 9 white and that'll be a sexy driver.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

No...I'm just unsure whether your repaint will weigh the same as the original paint job and/or if any difference would be noticeable. Could be way off base...iunno!

Did you just use automotive touch up spray? If so I would guess it will crack. If you go with a paint shop quality paint or possibly bumper paint it should work out better as they have the already mentioned additive allowing for flex.

Either way, it looks cool.  Good work.

I'm surprised no one has asked this yet (and if they have sorry) but how did you do this? Did you sand off the old paint then repaint with auto spraypaint? any ideas on other methods? and since it's matte could i just use high quality spraypaint (threadjacking at this point)?  I was thinking about doing this to my FT-Tour but im unsure of how to line it up.

I'm waiting for the mid summer followup pics when the paint comes off in big chunks.

@ the OP - I think the R11 drivers look like more flash than substance, so needless to say I think you've just turned a nice driver into a worthless distaster waiting to happen.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
