I lost a chunk of cash gambling. I hurt my hand, playing golf of all things. Had to replace a tire on my car. And now I've got girl problems. I'm looking forward to when 2011 turns for the better.

Doesn't sound like it can get any worse. I had a terrible 2009, and 2010 was just a year to dig in and make it through. Feeling good that 2011 will get me back to normal.

It's in the hole!

If these things all happened in one weekend, I smell a screenplay.  Get it down on paper. Right now.

Anyway, I spent my 2011 golf budget (including membership fees) on a downpayment for a new car for my wife, my #1 and #2 golf buddies left the area (for work reasons), 4 critical pieces of equipment at work died on Monday morning (good times all week - not), I need to let of some steam yesterday so my brother and I went to shoot some stick at a neighbourhood pub then almost got in a fight with two loudmoutn neanderthals from "the Rock" (a province in Canada where their number one export is meatheads to Alberta) and while I was drinking beer and watching the hockey game, my wife was waiting patiently at home because I'd promised a week ago to be home early so she could take her mom to a movie. Yeah. I suck.

The tail end of 2010 rocked for me and my businesses, and 2011 is looking awesome.  No complaints here!

Dang man. Sorry! Sounds like you've got it bad too.

Chalk up another mishap for 2011. My fuel pump died on me today... I really hope this is limited to January.

I think this one is just poor timing. Yes, 2011 has sucked, and yes, this makes it worse. But, my car has been treating me great lately. Hasn't had any breakdowns in a considerable amount of time and I've put some serious miles on it lately.

So, in other words, you were due?

It does sometimes seem as if trouble comes in bunches, I guess to balance out the good times.  Well 2011 hasn't started too well for me either in some ways.  My car needs new tires and a timing belt and a storm broke a major tree and I have to have it removed.  But most serious of all was my wife's health, which has not been good for years, has taken a turn for the worst.  The former problems are solvable with an application of money but it is not clear at this time if that is true of the latter problem.  So time will tell.  But as they say "I felt sorry for myself because I had not shoes until I saw a man with no feet".  You usually don't have to look far to find someone worse off than you are.

    • Day 316 - More swings, full backswing and full finish.
    • Day 132: did some mirror work while watching TV. Worked on backswing stuff primarily.
    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
