If his even par scores came in a tournament, the committee could rule him ineligible using this chart , and they could also manually adjust his handicap as low as they reasonably wanted given his scores, and ban him for a length of time from competing in their tournaments.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I am from the UK, now living in the US, my hcp is 12.7, I have friends come over from the UK and play and the are a 22, 18, and a 17. I usually manage to beat them quite comfortably in a stableford comp, I seriously have to have a bad day for them to get close.

I went over to the UK a couple of weeks ago and drove up to the Northwest of England to play with the 22 handicapper at his home course, the temp never got above freezing, we had a two hour delay due to frost and the fog never lifted and the best visibility allday was about 150yds. I shot 32 points off of 12 and he shot 28 points, I seriously think that each time I go over there that I am shooting below my hcp of 12, I belong to a society over there and each time I go over we play and I always take their money :-) I show them my USGA handicap card and they have no argument.

Nice way for you to cut your travel expenses, but it doesn't say much about the hc system and hc 22, 18 and 17 are bogey golfers, mostly struggling for bogeys. With the freezing round, probably with winter tees and wintergreens the course must be a lot shorter than normal, with no real markings of the actual distances, which is where the ballstriking and experience of a lower hc. comes into advantage.

We see this overhere all the time, low handicappers playing near the buffer in wintertime or even below their hc, while mid and higher caps end at 5-10 strokes above their hc.

In Belgium we get our handicaps by playing tournaments.  You can do a maximum of 5 "extra day scores" a year, which are strictly regulated, have a marker, let know in advance you will be playing qualifying, and so on.  But still you are soon to be branded a cheater if you do.  So in practice you get your handicap by playing in tournaments.

And that's just how I feel it should be for an official handicap !

    • Day 127: 5/2/24 Stack Full Speed spectrum training session 6/24. Training speed was 5 mph higher than previous high, as was e-speed. Still not as high as I have done in previous programs, but just 1 mph lower. Battling through a neck issue, and possible trigger fingers. Happy with results.
    • Day 49. Played 9 from tees a bit beyond my comfort zone and was humbled. Hit a couple good shots so will take that at least.
    • +12 47, and never lost a ball or had a penalty. Got the snap hooks off the tee for the first 3 holes. So, playing the punch out game. Probably had like 20 putts. Bad short game day. The greens were weirdly firm but slow. I just don’t get spin out of the rough. I had a SW, with good height hit middle half of the green and end up almost off the back of the green. I know what I was doing with the full swing. Bad habits creeping in.
    • 9 years and counting. Lil chipped paint here and there but still going strong. Also have an 18 deg driving iron that I got a couple of years ago which is doing well too. @iacastried it and I think he liked it.
    • For PING to assemble and ship it? It's a 3H. Yea, the new club has more loft. How do you like that, 2H?
