Patrick:

The Sand Trap covered yesterday's play and has this note at the end:
NBC will cover The Players Championship beginning at 2pm Monday.

Hope that helps.

Hey Patrick, it's good to have you here first off.

Second off, I guess I will have to record this afternoon's play, as I will not even be home until 6 Central Time. But the way it's looking, they may finish up today. They will have to get on the ball, but I think they can do it. The leaders will be worn out, but I think they are all used to it by now after so many rain delays this season.

They only have a couple holes left, and others have already started teeing off holes 1 and 10. So we may get a Monday finish afterall.

Dang, the third round killed practically everyone. Only 5 rounds in the 60s, and 5 round in the 80s!

One word: wind.

Mickelson took a 7 on 17. Tway took a 12 . Tiger hit it in the water.

Well, it looks like Fred Funk outlasted the wind to win the Players Championship. He has played that course alot, and I guess he has played it in the high winds before. He handled it very well obviously to win.

Scott Verplank was at -9 going into the 18th, but I guess he bogeyed it to finish 1 off. He shot a 70 today to move way up the leaderboard. And how about Tom Lehman? He got a big time paycheck by shooting 68 in the final round in harsh weather.

While I was at home, Tiger's entire group hit it in the water on 17, it was truly amazing how hard that little hole was playing today. I would go to PGATour.com and check the scores and every time I went back, it seemed like someone else either bogeyed it or worse.

Crazy difference between Thursday's round and today's round and a half or so.

i spent the week out at sawgrass and it was horrible. first, general parking and other lots were closed so i had to park at a family members house. second, the weather changed so much that the grounds crew couldnt keep up. thursday was awesome. friday was a washed out wasted walk to the course. saturday morning was nice and foggy. all in all, the only good shot i saw was sergio at 9 on thursday, 285 out and he crushed a 3 wood up close. missed the eagle put but what a shot.

we've had bad weather here for the players in the past, but this was the icing on the cake. maybe they should move the tournament from the florida monsoon season to another month, although most months are monsoon season here in florida.

    • Day 153: putted for a while using the 2 cups drill inside. Working on bead primarily. Contact was really good.
    • Day 8: 12/17/2024 Okay I took my new PPJ swing thought to the range today. I wasn't sure I was quite ready to do so, but I'm glad I did.  When I got it right it was good... really good. When I got it wrong it was a major fail. I hit lots of really ugly ones. But I didn't let that deter me. I stayed committed and focused on the PPJ and I avoided any temptation to go back to what I was doing before just so that I could "look" better at the range. I'm pretty excited about what I saw when I got it right.  I hit the 6 iron mostly (nearly all block work today). I also hit about 6 balls each with the PW, 8I, 5W and Driver. Those had varying degrees of success. I did crack one drive that let me feel and see what the changes will look like once I get fully trained.  Anyway, I'm going to go back to the mirror work for a couple of more days before bringing it back to the range. I do feel like if I can get this right my swing will improve a lot. So I think its worth the effort. I liked the way it looked on GEARs when I get it right, and I like the results I got at the range when I got it right. Now the goal is to work towards getting it right more often.
    • So I think it's that they can't just bend the shaft or hosel to get it to a new lie angle. They adjust that and it changes the weighting, so they have to then adjust all the weights to get it balanced again. I get the impression that it's a bit of an iterative process and they do it all in the US, so they're paying US labor costs to build it and make it work how it's supposed to. Whether you believe in the tech or not, I think that's a true statement.
    • Ah, the old EE in the backswing move. Chest going back and staying down doesn't help.
