I'm going to replace the stock shaft in my driver with a premium shaft, I have decided on a Graphite design tour ad YSQ.  My swing speed is around 105 and I have a smooth tempo.  The recommendation on the GD website is X flex for anything over 100mph with this shaft.  I have never played an x flex before and was wondering if I should go for it or stick with an S flex instead?  I know it is best to try them both out but nobody around here has them (or the 909 heads in their fitting carts anymore) and I can get a good deal on one from ebay.

At 105 mph, you could really go with either.  My swing speed is close to yours (108 - 112) and I was fit with a 75X in the Motore F1 shaft.  I went with an X to tighten dispersion and bring down my spin rates.  In other shafts, a stiff would fit as well.

What ball flight/shot characteristics are you looking to improve?  I'll look at the shaft specs if you can provide a few launch stats and shot shape info.

Whatever you feel is more comfortable. When I got fitted for my 910 D2 I really did not want to get an X, but it got my angles and spin correct and I hit it a few yards farther. I have played stiff all the way up until this month since I got my driver, and I've just spent a month in Palm Springs hitting balls and playing and couldn't be happier.

Shaft flexs are not the same between companies. IOW, a stiff flex in Graphalloy isn't the same flex as a stiff shaft by Adilah for example. The best way I know of finding out what shaft works best for your swing is to log some launch monitor time with a knowledgable tech. As I have posted many times before, "what works great for your buddy isn't necessarily what will work best for you". A companies suggested flex table(s) are okay, but there is more to it.

Going off of a companies table is okay and will work, but if you really want to dial it in, get on a launch monitor with a knowledgable tech.

My ss is 105-110 mph with a very smooth transition and I play a PX 6.0 and am very happy with it. However I also like the Proto and Voo Doo shafts in a stiff flex. If you are like me, which is, if I can feel a shaft kick I can play it. That doesn't mean I like it, but I can play it. I can play shafts that are too stiff, but I can't feel where the head is so I'm guess'n, which makes the shaft a little difficult to play for me.

Shaft Flex is different from one manufacture to the others.   So I think you should follow the recommendation on the website.

Otherwise you should try both Flex on Launch monitor, see which one is better suit for you.

    • Hi all. I have sought permission from admin to post this here. First, here's a quick link to my products on TST, which a few of the mods have been road-testing...  Most of you would be aware of the import tariffs imposed on importers to the US circa September last year. Prior to their introduction, I was selling a decent number each week into the 'States. Since the tariffs came in - which added ~AU$60 to the total cost of getting them over there - sales have dropped to virtually nil. I think fear of the tariffs is the biggest part rather than the actual cost increase, despite me declaring everywhere on my site that we pay the tariffs and have successfully got every order into the US without any problems since. What is still unknown to most US consumers is that these tariffs will DOUBLE in February as Australia Post will no longer be allowed to offer "private" rates, they all change to "commercial". I do indeed think that this will make the products uncompetitive to ship there. So what's the backstory?  I'm a small Aussie business, not some corporate juggernaut. I invented these products - not a reseller for someone else. The import tariffs double in February, so add another ~15% to the total cost. If you want StanceMate alone I can do a super deal on a run-out model PREVIEW HERE (note you cannot purchase this yet. I think the shipped price will be about AU$110 inc Shipping (tariffs included). If you want to reduce the cost of the whole Stryper Plus Bundle I can swap the runout StanceMate to reduce the overall price by AU$60. These work EXACTLY as the newer version, just not as premium quality in the way the finish is achievbed in production) IMPORTANT: All import tariffs are PRE-PAID at my end, and clears customs no problem. I've sent a half dozen since October with every one delivered. NB: I'm not here to get into the politics of the decisions on tariffs, so let's not go down that road. It is what it is! So StanceMate to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - about US$70 Bundle to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - US$240 Bundle (with version 1 StanceMate) to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - US$200 Cheers Corbs
