Winter gives me time to take a little break from golf, recharge my batteries and do other hobbies.  From April-October so much of my time, energy and money is put towards golf that I need a little bit of a break otherwise I would probably get sick of golf.

I love golf, but you cant do something day after day after day without getting sick of it eventually.

I'll take putting up with a few months of cold and snow instead of living in a place that has high temps, extreme humidity and hurricanes.  Not to mention that here in the north we at least get all 4 seasons, which is something that some places cant say.

I can understand the wanting to recharge since most of my northern friends play more during the in season than i do. For us there is always next week when we have that week or 2 of 30 degree weather.

But having 4 seasons is overrated - had it for over 30 years and do not miss a bit of it. You may be believing a little too much of the stereotypes - in central Florida we havent seen a hurricane in the 6 years that I have been here and I wouldnt call the heat or humidty extreme (it may be a bit more in south Florida but at the same time their winter isnt as cold as ours)

Compass Point in Pasadena MD is going to be open sunday... Not sure how tee times will look but I know that course is usually really busy.

Temperatures are supposed to get close to, if not into the 40's here in the Boston area this week with a little bit of rain Sunday too. Am I being a little bit too optimistic thinking that the foot/foot and a half of snow will be gone by the end of this week.....?

I enjoy fall and winter a lot, so Im pretty sure that I would miss it.  I also get bored with having the same type of climate all the time (after about 2 months Im ready for it to change), so Im not sure Id like living in the south very much.

As for your comment about hurricanes, you never know.  I work for a company that makes generators, so I keep a pretty close watch on the hurricanes and you never know exactly where they are going to track.  As for your comment about heat and humidity, after 2 months of 90 degrees and high humidity here in Wisconsin Im ready to move to Canada, so I dont think Id want to live in a place thats like that (or even warmer) 9 months out of the year.

I dont do well with heat and humidity.  I can deal with snow and cold a lot easier than I can with heat and humidity.

Like I said, one of the reasons why I dont, "suffer" during the winter is because it gives me a chance to take a little break from golf.  Basically, in October I put away the golf clubs and get out the hockey equipment and play in a hockey league all winter long.  Then, in mid March when the outdoor rinks are all shutting down for the season and even the leagues at the indoor rinks are slowing down, I put away the hockey gear and get out my golf clubs just in time for when the courses around here open.  Its pretty much a perfect setup for me, so no complaints here.

Thats not to say that I dont look foreward to spring.  I love playing hockey, but golf is definetly my #1 simply because its much more of a challenge and much more relaxing.  After 2 months of playing 2-3 weeks in an adult hockey league and working 40-60 hours a week in a factory, this 30 year old body is ready for a little break.

Ummmmmm, maybe.  Ive seen a foot of snow disappear overnight when theres temps in the 40s and rain.  It all depends upon how much rain you get.

Sadly 40's, 50"s, and 60"s would not allow for a round of golf here on Long Island. Would gladly take those temps but really need a full week of them with rain to get rid of the snow still everywhere.

Saw large amounts of grass on the near by golf course. Sadly going to need a lot more 50 plus days to get rid of the horrible snow.

I heard Compass Pointe had 160 golfers booked saturday and sunday so it was impossible to get a tee time. Im hoping to get a couple rounds in on Saturday if the weather stays nice.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
