Hey guys,

I am fifteen years old and I live just outside of Boston, MA.

I would be around an 18 handicap, but I have not gotten one yet...

I was wondering do you think it would be better to get the ping g15 irons at 699$ or the callaways razr at 699$. Which ones are better for my golfer type?

Both are quality clubs, but I think the Pings will get you off to a smashing start.

Of course, you should hit them both (outside where you can see the actual ball flight) and give careful attention to have them "fitted" to you.

The length, lie, and shaft should fit you or they will just hold you back. Ping has an excellent fitting system.

Once you get your handicap down to 10 or so, I suspect that even though you love the forgiveness of the iron, you will be ready to get another set of irons that will help you develop better ball contact - something in a forged iron. As a fan of Mizuno, I would encourage you to give them a look in a little while.

At any rate, enjoy your summer. Let us know what you purchase and how they are working out for you.

I´ve been wondering how good those PINGs are too...   Planning to go to the simulator to compare my irons and oothers (including those g15 irons)

But actually those callaways are not bad either cause my friend has 5 and 9 irons of RAZR irons... I tried them one time and...

UMM great :))

I personally wouldn't spend a lot of money on my first set and before contemplating getting a set fitted, take a few lessons from a pro to get the correct fundamentals in your golf swing. After saying that both sets of clubs are very good and i wouldn't worry about which ones to buy, the clubs their self will tell you the ones to pick

Hey guys thanks for the incite...

Just some information,

I have been golfing for about three years now so I am not investing my first set and I am looking for more consistency in my long irons... Does that change any of your view points on which clubs are better?

What viewpoint? What kind of irons do you have now? What do you consider a long iron? I've never hit newer PINGs (I've swung them in the store and found them to be displeasing), but considering how many guys play them and stop at 5 or 6 iron, I'd lean toward the Callaways. You really need to hit them for yourself though.

Go the the range, hit as many different kinds of irons as you can and buy whatever YOU like best.

I am leaning towards the razr's more now because they are more stylish, and they will also allow for me shape my shots as well as improve my long iron game because they are supposedly pretty forgiving... what do you think?

The more forgiving the iron, the more difficult it is to shape your shot.

However, I would guess that shaping your shot at this point in your game isn't nearly as important as learning to make good, solid contact over and over.

Drop the $$$ and get to the range.
