I completed my fitting yesterday and the results came back pretty much what I expected.  I'm, for lack of a better word, standard across the board with the exception being lie angle (2 degrees upright needed).

I hit the ball pretty well during the fitting, and tried the DGS300 (current shaft in my 990s), Project X 5.5 and the DGL.  Hit all three fairly well, but the DGS300 seemed better, not as high of a ball flight and seemed to penetrate better.

But my concern is clubhead.  I love the look of the MBs (not that the CBs are shabby looking) and hit them both well.  I like to work the ball on the course, for better or worse, and the Titleist rep said I could go with either, that the CB would give me more forgiveness and slightly less workability.

Anyone here have any opinions between the two?

I also got fitted for a driver from my current 983K with Graffaloy Pro Lite.  I hadnt planned on doing a driver fitting, but figured why not.  Not much was done with the launch monitor, but he fit me into the 910D3 with the Diamana Ahila Whiteboard 72g shaft.  I know absolutely nothing about driver shafts these days.  Any guidance on this one?

This is just my opinion based on a past, similar experience.  If you like the MB just get them.  You can drive yourself crazy trying to decide between the two when it sounds like you prefer the MB.  My advise would be to split the set and maybe get W-7 in the MB and 6-4 in the CB, but that's just me.  That way you kind of get the best of both worlds.

It is my belief that the forgiveness/workability stuff is just a bunch of crap that people say to validate what they want and why they want it.  The difference in a 'forgiving' club and one that supposedly is not, isn't all that much, a few millimeters.  Fact is, if you hit the ball in the center of the clubface along the proper swing path, the ball will go where it should.  If you don't, it won't.  It's as simple as that.  Some clubs can mask that a little, but it is still a failed shot.  Just a matter if you want to be 5 yards off target or 10.  Same goes for the workability.  If you know how to move a ball and adjust the flight, it can be done with any club.

The difference between these two clubs in these two areas are very small.  So small that I doubt you would ever notice.  If you hit the ball slightly on the toe with either, you won't get the desired result, it's just one might end up not as bad as the other.  And using the MB isn't going to magically move the ball from left to right.  I've hit both these clubs, there isn't that much difference in them.  They are about the same if you hit them properly.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

There are soooooo many midcappers wanting to buy a set of iron that will force them to get to hit these properly or else.......

Fot most it is never going to happen ;-)

I think you at least try the AP2 aswell ...... if in the end you still think you should go for the MB or CB, at least it is a choice made after trying a lot of possibillities......

I did try the AP2.  I tried the whole line.  I was a 5.6 a few years back and for financial reasons gave up the game.  I'm about 6 months back into the game and my short game is horrible.  But while my handicap is in the low double digits right now, it won't be there for long.

The two fittings I did, both guys said I'd be fine with either, just looking for some feedback on anyone who has played or hit both, and how big of a difference there might be.

Hi!

I'm in the same situation as you, played to 5.0 some years (~8-10) back, and has just taken up the game again. See you used to play a 990 (DCI I assume?), how do the 910 line compare to the 990? Still like my 990s, but need stiffer shafts so getting a new set is about the same price almost. I'm thinking about the ap2, but CB is a thought. How would you say these clubs compare to the 990 with regard of distance, workability and forgiveness, but especially height of trajectory?

Regards

Anders
