For some reason i all of a sudden cannot hit my driver at all everytime i make contact i get under it way to much and pop it up which gives me no distance. I cut my driver a inch and a half for more accuracy and it seemed to work for a couple of weeks now i have lost all confidence with this darn club.

I've had that happen to me also, skying every drive and I *think* what I was doing was letting the ball creep up towards the toe of my left foot.  I was sliding back on takeaway and teeing the ball up too high.  Maybe it was a combination of those three.  But now I have a routine so that I tee the ball the same height and that the ball is inside my left foot.

Hi franky, If you're skying your driver (probably have ball marks on top of the club), it means that your swinging too steeply into the ball.  Try making some practice swings as if you're trying to sweep the ball off the tee, then re-create that feeling when hitting the ball.  Your swing path may also be "out to in", which would also cause pulled shots.

i have always had a steep swing path and i little out  to in but the problem is fixing it and being consistent. That is waht really hurts my scorcard. If it wasnt for my wedge game and putting i would of probably hung myself by now

To be clear, the cause of a pull shot is both a clubface closed to the target and a path square to that clubface. As we all know, the ball starts in the direction the clubface is pointed, so there's no way whatsoever to hit a pull with a clubface square to or right of the target at impact.

Most people who pop up the driver do swing out to in and fairly steeply. Hips haven't gone forward, shoulders very flat with no secondary axis tilt coming into the ball, sometimes the upper center has gone forward as well which can't help.

So what you guys are telling me is to pretty much go across my body a little like a Kuchar swing.

In addition, if the ball position is too far back, this may be the cause of the steep angle of attack.

Not necessarily. A lot of people will swing back that way and then come over the top by throwing their right shoulder out at the ball. We can't really say without seeing video.

    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
