Hello to All,

I just purchased and was fit for a new set of Diablo Edge Irons. I got everything done I needed to in reference to the fitting process.

I was never fit with my MacTec's so this was a great experience for me. I found out that my correct lie was 2 degrees upright. My question is this. I have Cobra Baffler Hyrids 3/20, 4/23, 5/26, Callaway Diablo Edge 3-wood/5-wood, Cleveland Wedges 56 and 60 and Last but not lest Nike Str8 Dymo2 Driver. Should I have the Lie angle adjusted on these clubs as well?? I now know how important it is.

Thank You in Advance,

J Gray

The basic answer is no.  I play my irons +1" and 4 1/2* upright.  The woods +1" and driver 47.25" are all regular lie.  Most of these clubs, woods and drivers, cannot be lie adjusted.   I'd look into adjusting your wedges.  I have 4.5* upright on all my irons including 4-pw,uw,sw,lw.

I discussed this alot with a club maker before I had him custom make a 3,5 and 7 wood.  The only thing we ended up doing was adding an inch to the length of them, but this was not neccessarily for the lie angle, I'm tall.

lie angle for the driver, fairways, and hybrids is not critical and therefor not done.  you would have to have a really severe swing lie to need any adjustment.  the wedges, yes, IF they are not already okay for you.  here's a simple check- take a piece of plywood or similar material and place it on the ground at the same level as the bottom of your feet and hit it like you're playing a shot off it.  there should be a mark on the bottom of your wedge, if not put some paint/baby powder/ or something that will transfer to your club on it.  if the mark on the bottom of your wedge is centered you're okay. if not then an adjustment is needed.  the center of the mark should be in the center of the sole.

when you get your clubs back do this with all of them and see if they all are correct.

i have another way to check on my website- www.yourgolfshop.webs.com under "lofts and lies".

glad you got fitted!

The wedges you should be able to have done no problem. I don't really know about the woods and hybrids. I don't think they bend those, do they...?

    • There are so many videos comparing and contrasting everything that I am both overwhelmed and more than a bit skeptical. Your comments above are much more valuable than hours of you-tube videos. Generally speaking, I’d much prefer to read something that someone took the time and trouble to write (such as your comments) than a bunch of videos, or worse, meaningless reviews that seem like they are all cut and paste selections of the same script. I’m more of a RTFM type than a watcher of “instructional” videos. By way of explanation, I don’t watch TV either.  So thanks - I’ll take that under advisement. I have an H3 that I bought for $10 that I’ve been carrying around but not sure why. Seems like a cool club, but I just don’t really know what to do with it.
    • I was using the window as a mirror. Just trying to be a more aware of the feels for a better backswing. Trying to not be as closed from A1 to A2. Then not letting the club head flip inside. What I was feeling was a pressure my right wrist, and like the palm of my right hand was pushing upward against the grip of the club. My right hand was the underside of the swing path.  Going to play around with this a bit more. It looked pretty decent with mirror/window work. Just wanted to jot it down.
