I have practiced in a waste area near a flood control dam.  It has not been developed for recreation so very few people around. I don't think it is possible to practice in my local city parks. Non golfers assume you have complete control.  The public 9 hole course I started on had a lagoon and people would walk right in front of you, all they knew is what they saw on TV. It was posted closed  except for golf, but many ignored, I guess that is another issue? Some middle and elementary schools have grassy areas around here that are not used in the summer and are well mowed.  Most of the HS have diamonds or soccer and most are fenced off.

I was wondering about this too.  What if you brought a net and a mat so you didn't take divots.  I should find out from someone the laws in my area.

If you had a mat and a net you wouldn't need to hit balls at the park.

I don't have enough room for the net in my backyard really though.
