It's all mental! The only thing that distinguishes the pros (assuming they have equal skills as there are many great golfers) are their mental abilities.

Its not all mental,

Some are just naturals, like Bubba Watson who doesn't practice alot, he just shows up. Then there are players like VJ, who are workaholics. I think its like golf swings, there are to many different types of players to claim what makes a pro. To me its the intangibles. Knowing how to analyse the situation in a short amount of time and come up with a solution.

For example, sometimes we forget to club for the wind, the temp, the downhill, uphill, sidehill lies, wet ground, ect.. There able to do that easily, and then execute the shot. Thats the difference, knowledge. The best thing you can probably due is train yourself to get close. It just takes repetitions to become habit.

I'd like to credit Jay Haas for that tip. I didn't come up with it all by myself!
