I had a few questions with regards to training aids. I am looking into some form of training aid that will help my iron play. My general problem is that i tend to do a  1/2-3/4 swing instead of bringing the club all the way back. Also my swing plane is off here and there. So I guess my main question is based on my problems what training aid would you suggest.

I'm not sure what they are called, but you can see them in a lot of pros bags ( i believe).  They are yellow thin long rods that can lay down on the ground for alignment as well as fit into the butt of the grip on the shaft to help for swing plane.  A great training tool in general for tempo could be something like Medicus clubs that will break if incorrect tempo, you can also adjust them.  But, perhaps the two greatest training tools are getting videos of yourself swinging and getting instruction.

I'm betting that if you try to extend your backswing, you'll develop more swing plane problems, at least for a while.  You may be able to do flexability exercises to help, but if you try to force your turn beyond what your body is comfortable with, you'll have problems.
