From the first month or so of the golf season, there is only one thing that i really need help with. I have been pulling and occasionally hooking my hybrids through my PW. I can tell when i do this right away because i can tell my wrists get way to active and i pull it. Im not really sure why i cat get out of the little habit because that only happens about 40 percent of the time, the rest go straight

How can i work on not using my wrists too much and kinda slowing down my upper body to avoid the pull/hooks?

Thanks

Just gear down and start with half swings to get your timing down.  Feel the connection to your lower body and the natural release of the clubhead when you do this.  The pull usually come from an overactive upper body and starting of the swing by your shoulders.  Good luck.

It sounds like you may be coming over the top.....try this drill: put a small towel under your left armpit and take a full swing with it. It should not fall to the ground and this will help you swing the club on the proper plane. Also, try to extend your arms fully after impact towards the target, which will avoid you from using too much wrist and coming across the ball. Hope that helps!

I vote for:

- not getting too flat on the takeaway (can lead to an overcompensation at the top then an OTT move on the way down - been there),

- not starting the downswing with your shoulders (as mentioned). Try getting more active with the lower body (not your feet). Lead with your hips and look for the feeling that your shoulders are chasing your hips

- full extension toward the target (as mentioned earlier)

Would trying a larger grip help to keep the hands a little quieter as well.  I suffer from the same problem.

Thanks!
