Five of the last ten major winners are International players.

Schwartzel, Oosthuizen, Yang, Cabrera, and Immelman

This year, The President's Cup will be played at Royal Melbourne (Mackenzie course)

This year's final leaderboard at the Mackenzie designed Augusta National

1.  Schwartzel

2.  Day

3.  Scott

T4.  Ogilvy

7. Cabrera

T8. KJ Choi

T15. Immelman

I'd say that the International Team are the favorites to win.

If it was played this month your case would be compelling.  I expect by the time it is acutally played things will tighten up.  Untill the international team has actually won one of these the USA team is the favorite.

The International Team won in 1998, at Royal Melbourne, same place they are holding the competition this year.

Yes and there has been a tie as well.  Certainly this is the best chance in some time, with several Australian and South African players likely.  I still feel that given US has won most of them and several in a row they would still be considered the favorites.

Royal Melbourne in summer, when there can be multiple 35*C+ days in a week where the greens become as hard as concrete and faster than glass, will be a challenge for the American players and will be similar to a British open where shots have to run up to the green. Having said that Tiger won on a similar course 2 years ago at Kingston Heath, However i'm hoping for a windy week where ball striking will be premium.
