Your best bet with E-Bay is to avoid "too good to be true" pricing with anything "New".  Look at the feedback rating of the seller.  You are better off with slightly "used" clubs that show mild wear and come from good reputation sellers.

It is very tough from the photos to tell whether the club is real or not.

Best of luck.

for that price I`d say it looks real "enough".  if it is a fake and you paid a fire sale price , did you really get hurt ?

I got the e-bayer to tell me the serial number on the Monterey - it is 1905407, then i went to Scotty's homepage and tried to Authenticate the putter, but it did work - it coulden't register the putter..

Is it a fake if i dosen't register, or is it just the putters that are custom made, that can be Authenticated?

Do scottys actually even have serial numbers? I can't say I've looked at any of the newer ones, but the one I bought off a coworker that's from like 02/03 has no serial number on it anywhere.  For authentication don't you have to actually spend the cash and send it back to the custom shop for a refurbish?

I dont know, but I now know, that the Monterey is a fake, the seller dosen't know himself, the putter is rubbed in plastic on the clubhead, and the shaftband is on the front of the shaft - definetly a fake. :-)

I'm going for the other one.

I will say that in general, the only way to truly know it's not a fake is to buy from a legitimate dealer in person like a golf galaxy or dicks or golfsmith...etc or from their websites.  I get that no one wants to pay full price for anything....ever...but for items like these that NEVER EVER go on sale, there really is no choice. I liken it to under armor, no people, it never goes on sale, ever, get it in your head. Even at the outlet stores, their prices could hardly be called sale prices. The more people continue to buy fakes on ebay, the more you support the counterfeiting industry. I personally don't get the argument that even if it's a fake, it's money well spent.   If you spent 150 to buy a scotty cameron putter, and it isn't, that's not worth the money as you just spent $150 on something made equally as cheap as the Wilson Harmonized putters or Trend XTS putters ($19.99). I mean just cuz it costs $150 on ebay just means they know that for the miniscule amount it costs to make a fake, they can get a 500% return easily because gullible people will always throw money away at something because it says "Cameron" on it :P Even the pictures they put up can easily be copied and pasted from other websites, or even other bids that are up on the site at the time.  How many times do you see something listed as "used" yet the picture still shows it in plastic wrap and shiny brand new. Or the other way around.  If it's real, great, if it's not, do you really want to just throw money into a garbage can? :P

PS: if you actually go through with it, at least make sure that seller location isn't China, Malaysia, or Thailand...etc....because that's just plain freakin obvious :P

-The "Monterey" sell needs to learn how to spell. There are complete misspellings, excepted instead of accepted, no return policy, this one screams fake to me.

-2 Laguna: Little to any information about putter or seller, no return policy, and for being 1 unwanted prize, he seems to do a lot of **brand new** 2011 item sales, and oddly enough Land Rover parts, no idea if its truly of any significance but worth mentioning.

If you want the scotty because you love the feel and touch of a scotty, you are going to have to go to a golf store and spend the 299.99

If you want the scotty because of the prestige and how cool they look, you can spend 50$ for a fake one.

You aren't going to find a real scotty for that price.  Lets be reality here

Yes, EVERY Scotty has a serial #. It is on the back of the shaft right below the grip.
