I used to play on a 9 hole course with no driving range. So my practice would come from hitting balls into a pasture or playing two balls on the course. Now I have the luxury of a driving range.

If you're at the range, what do you think about after hitting the following shots and how you need to fix them? Let's say you're hitting a 7 iron and you:

1. Push it right of the target.

2. Pull it left of the target.

3. Hit it thin.

4. Hit it fat.

5. Hit a fade/draw while attempting to hit it straight.

Keeping it simple. e.g. weight forward, head down, etc.

You're doing it wrong. I wasn't implying that I do any of these things (I do). Eventually one of these shots will pop up, with anyone.

  1. Crap, clubface was too open. Forgot to add palmar flextion at address to close the face a little. Other than that good shot.
  2. Crap, tried too hard. When I try to "hit it" my shoulders out-pace my hips and my swing path goes out-to-in and causes me to pull shots.
  3. + 4. Problem with my flying wedge.
  4. I don't tend to try and hit straight shots.
