I can't help but to bring my club too far inside during my backswing. I get it into postion nicely at the top, though, sometimes crossing the line. My swing ends up a little steep coming down but remains inside-out (most of the time), producing good shots.

I'm looking for advice/drills that will allow me bring the club into position properly at the top. (On or slightly above the plane created by my downswing)

Thanks in advance.

I try to hinge earlier in the swing, i use to try to get as wide as possible, andi would flip over and get inside. Thats helped a bit, but what i am trying now is taking the club back with my right hand, not left. Its a mental thing, but i find i get to the top better that way. I am so right handed, its crazy. I even started putting now thinking of pushing with my right hand.
