Your handicap is much better than mine so you might not listen to me but putting is really my only strong point. On days that I don't actually play I practice putting for at least an hour. The practice green at our driving range has 9 holes-- I alternate between 1 to 9, 9 to 1, and putting to the hole opposite whichever I choose. If I three putt I start over from the very beginning (if I start on hole 1 and make it to hole 9 and then 3 putt I start over from hole 1). I also only use one golf ball because I feel that it really makes me focus on making the putt count. I got par on 5 out of 9 holes today and every single par was a one putt so it can't hurt.

Actually. My back gets pretty sore from putting so much.

Good luck out there!

1) A putting aid that I like to use is the string connected to two rods that can be inserted into the ground.  I position the string over the hole and this helps me keep the putter face square to the target on my back stroke and foward stroke.

2) I have several putters and I like to use a blade putter.   the reason I like the blade putter is that it will help you see any flaws in your putting stroke.

3) practice and have fun

4) enjoy putting and build your confidence

5) focus on a straight line and distance control

My game also falling apart for the last 4 rounds . The club punched holes and puttong samd on the greens to maintain the green in summer . As the result , the chipping and putting were affected badly . Green speed are slower and the break are not predictable . Driving accuracy dropped and am hitting OBs, which causing 4 to 5 stokes more .

  • 4 weeks later...

putting, chipping around the green and short shots within 30 yards is what I would focus on.

Do you track your putts per round?

Do you track your up and down, scrambling per hole?

My best round this year was with

26 putts for 18 holes

7 out of 11 up and downs to one putt

I shot 72 or par.

4 birdies

4 bogies

I practice putting for 3 hours a week.

I focus on distance control and making a straight putt from 3 - 5 feet

I also practice 2 hours a week on the short game from within 50 yards and in toward the pin.

You score well enough to shoot close to par, its the putting and scrambing that is keeping you from shooting par in my opinon.

    • I would be happy to hang out with you guys but as of now @DaveP043 and I are planning to stay in Cranberry Township. There’s a bit of travel between the two places, but maybe we can work something out.
    • Personally I have no issues with even the steroid-era figures such as Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa being inducted into the hall. My reasoning there is we already have nearly a half-dozen known steroid users in the hall, including those inducted after their steroid usage was already common knowledge. David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez (as well as Ivan Rodriguez, Adrian Beltre, and Todd Helton) both failed the same wave of anonymous drug tests that saw Sammy Sosa shunned by the nation, and he's in the hall. Piazza admitted to using Andro (the same thing McGwire was juicing with) and amphetamines. Greenies were commonplace in MLB clubhouses and used by countless stars, alongside cocaine, from at least the 60's all the way up until the early 2000's. There are at least a dozen other pros in the hall that have allegations from teammates who claim to have directly witnessed steroid usage. Even Nolan Ryan has stated that he thought steroid usage was a widespread problem in the sport as early as the mid to late 70's. I'm of the opinion that once that genie is out of the bottle, and it most certainly has been for decades now, it's a bit silly to pretend those already inducted are somehow morally superior for being not quite as astronomically and suspiciously good at baseball when using steroids. Hitters were using steroids, pitchers were using steroids (funny how we saw the number of complete games fall off a cliff at the same time that steroid enforcement was being ramped up), it's an even playing field as far as I'm concerned. To quote The Incredibles, "When everyone is super, no one will be".  As for Pete Rose it would appear that by all accounts he never bet as a player and only ever bet on his own team while managing. It's understandable to prohibit any involvement in the sport after it was discovered, but it's not something that gave him any advantage in reaching his level of achievement in the sport.  As for Joe Jackson, I personally don't think he should have been banned in the first place. He actively refused the bribe, tried to report the plot to the owner of the White Sox, and his alleged confession only occurred after the White Sox's team attorney got him roaring drunk immediately prior to the grand jury testimony. Every confessed conspirator also stated that he never attending any of their meetings or discussed plans with them. Not to mention the fact that if he WAS trying to fix the series he did an absolutely terrible job of it considering he was the best performing player on either team by far setting a World Series record that stood until 1964 and went error-free while gunning down at least one runner at home plate.
    • Day 7: 5/13/2025 Range day today. Had a really good session. I was able to pull a mirror over into my stall and make a slow-mo swing in the mirror and then try to duplicate the swing to hit a ball.  Felt really good today. Tomorrow will be league night.
    • I have not posted here for a long time, but thought I would share a couple of things.  I have been working neuro-pathways. the message center from the brain to the muscles. When we move the body in new ways new pathways are created and when we stop moving certain muscles the pathways shrink. The body is very intelligent and it tries to be efficient , only using what is needed for the task at hand. I have working with the cable machines. Now most people who use the cable machines know the muscle gets a more even workout with the cables vs dumbbells . but what I did was pick out several exercises and did them on every setting on the cable machine, one arm at a time. At first glance it seems like the settings are so close it does not make much difference until you get to a lower setting, but I find it does. I used very light weights and did like 5 reps per exercise. We will see what I discover
