Callaway Hawkeye VFT irons sparking on impact?

i emailed erik about this and he said to ask you guys:

i have noticed that my hawkeye VFT irons spark on impact with the ball. i noticed it even more when i was playing in a simulator over the weekend and it was pretty dark in there.

has anyone ever heard of this?

I've had drivers spark tons when there is fertilizer on the grass. But irons on a stimulator? Interesting. I wonder if it is static electricity.

Irons on a

stimulator might spark, but I dunno about irons on a simulator . Hee hee hee. Anyway, I've never seen sparking, ever. So, yeah, I asked him to ask y'all here on the forum. Cuz you'll have better answers than me.

Seen it before a few times with Titanium irons.Certainly seen it a few times late in the evening and also on night-golf events......not seen it so much recently with drivers but it used to be quite common.

oh yea .. i have not seen it , but my playing partners are ..
also my 2-6 irons have a "clack" sound and i am not happy
with them , it's like they are not sound ..pete

My irons and drivers spark at my local driving range off the mats... makes me wonder if there's a metal additive in the rubber to make them last longer...

Titanium and sand react to make sparks. I used to see it at night off the mats at a local driving range with drivers.

One of my playing partners has Callaway titanium irons and they will spark pretty regularly.

Yes, they do and I've seen it first hand. As others have pointed out, it's the titanium. I've seen it with drivers as well.
