I'm curious.  To calculate handicap, by rule must I use scores from full 18 hole rounds only or can I use 9 hole rounds as well?

I ask because I'm using a software program that tracks my rounds but its not factoring in my 9 hole rounds when calculating my handicap.

thx

I believe that you can combine 9 hole scores to count them as a full round but am not 100% sure on this.

Record them all. The system should combine your 9 hole rounds into 18 hole rounds. In the Chicago Region it does that only when it updates the caps.

There are rules for partial rounds, If 13 holes get finished, use your handicap to "finish" the 18 and if 7 get finished, use handicap to make 9. So if you play 13 holes and quit, you use your handicap to compute net scores for the remaining holes (if you are a 10 handicap and the handicap on the hole is 10 or less, you get a bogie on the hole -- if the hole handicap is over 10, you get a par).

He isn't using an official system apparently.  Not all of the online calculators will take 9 hole rounds.

You could save your nine-hole rounds and when you have two, calculate the slope and rating and combine them into your own 18-hole rounds. I THINK the date is the date of the second nine and not the first. In any case, for a fair handicap, you should include all your golf after 7 holes.
