I'm getting a orlimar tri metal 3 wood tommorow. It's an older model, but I'm going to give it a shot.

I am loving my Distance Master Pro Steel fws. I have a 7w with a shaft pulled from an old Tommy Armour 845 driver, and liked it so much I got a 5w head and put it on a Proforce 65 that I had laying around. I think my total cost for the two complete clubs is less than $30.

My 3w is a Bridgestone J33 with Speeder 757 (tour I think). Ironically I don't know that I like this club as well as my frankenstein fws.

Adams Ovation 2...love the piercing trajectory and distance...240 on nice strikes :P
Probably going to get it reshafted with a V2 or look at the Mactec NVG 2

Good info guys.
I'm new here, but sure could use a tip one way or the other...The past few days I have been flip-flopping between the Burner or the Sasquatch for a 3 wood. I like them both!
But, not being able to hit them on the course is making it hard for me to decide.
I am back playing after some years off. My good days back then I was lucky to shoot low 90's. Something easy enough from about any lie. I have no problem hitting my 10 year old knockoff King Snake, but know it is time to buy something new and worthy.
So, sway me please!

i have an old school big bertha, war bird sole plate, strong three. i don't plan on changing it out anytime soon. three woods are like an old pair of shoes that fit well and are very comfortable. you find one you like you hold onto it.

I have one of those too, have had it for about 10 years, people laugh at me cause its all scratched up and has a tiny head, but i end up laughing more when i out drive them :)

Good info guys.

If you're having a tough time hitting a 3 wood, eschew it for a 16 degree hybrid. The hybrids are so much easier to hit consistently and to get up in the air. The hybrid won't go quite as far, but if you're scoring in the 90s, accuracy is more important than distance and you are more likely to be accurate with a hybrid than with a 3 wood.

Thanks. I actually hit a 3 wood really weel from most lies, so basically just looking to upgrade. Just got back from hitting the Ping G10 and it is now between Burner, Ping, and the Nike. Geesh.

Thanks to me finding hybrids that I like, I only carry 2 woods now. A driver and a 3 wood. The 3 wood that I recently got (2 months ago) was the Nike Sumo 2 Square head. I absolutely love it.

I hit both the Sas2 and squarehead, like them both, the square had better feel IMO. My BIG ? is, the salesman said the square head is harder to hit out of the rough? Anyone comment on this please?

I dont know where you are in this country, but try and demo one at a range or a course. Dicks Sporting Goods let me take it to the course. It seems to cut through the rough just fine.

They really did? I played one round with a set of irons and they wouldn't let me return them. and they were perfect.

I spoke to our local guy at Dicks his name was John (do a lot of business there) and all they asked for was a credit card deposit.
