Lizzyboy,

I had shoulder surgery in March, so warming up is a must.

  1. I start by gently swinging a 6 iron back and forth like a baseball swing, about 20 swings.
  2. I then progress bringing the head lower to more of a normal swing but smooth and gentle.  Move the hips and legs in a similar manor as your normal swing to loosen the hips.  Even exaggerate the motion to loosen things up.
  3. when I start to feel warm and loose, I then stretch the shoulders but holding the club by the head and grip in front of me, arms as wide as the club.  rotate the club so the left arm crosses over the right and reverses position.  This stretches the lat and external rotators.  turn more to the right to stretch further.
  4. Reverse the above stretch for the right arm.
  5. Stretch and warm the legs by doing lunges to the sides and front.
  6. If you don't mind getting dirty, I also recommend and hip stretch on the ground with crossing over the leg with arms flat out to the sides.  This stretches the lower back and hips.
  7. there are other stretches you can look up, but this routine gets me pretty loose.
  8. At the range, start with wedges and pitch shots and work your way up to driver.

Hope this helps.

I start out with lunges, do about 10 each side to get the hips stretched out.

I then bed at the waist keeping my back straight, arms extended outward, i rotate keeping my arms straight, you look up into the direction you rotate. This stretches the back, the obliques, the hips, the gluts. I do about 5-10 each side.

I then will rotate my shoulders around in circles, left to right across my chest to stretch out the upper back and rotator cuffs.

Then i got and take a few swings with a golf club just to feel the weight of the club. I will swing with my eyes closed as well, to get a real sense for my balance and weight shift.

Then i am done, i usually just stand around talking then ;b
