I am just curious if anyone knows a general rule of thumb for the following,

If the loft stays the same, how much distance is lost per inch or half an inch decrease in golf club length

If the Length stays the same, how much distance decrease is lost for each degree of loft increase

I choke down on my driver about 1 1/2 inch and hit it 10 yards further and much straighter.

Nothing against you but that is do to contact and a better swing when you choke up.  The laws of centripital (spelling?) force would say that a longer shafted golf club should hit longer (compared to the same club with a shorter shaft.)

As for me I really never choke up so I can't help much.

That should be right,More control and your swing should be able to go faster is wy the extra yards come in,That exactly why the Hybrid came out wood with control of a irons,I choke on my irons went coming out off the ruff, i am ablow to put more power bi hing the club and i no i am not going to hit a fat shot.I went for the weekend to Daytona and play Crane Lakes beautifully golf course harder than out her in Orlando cause of the type of bahia grass they use is thicker. And if it keeps working for you don,t stop,Every golfer looks for that control.Next thing you no is went your score star dropping.Good look.

i assumed a general rule of about 10 yards for choking down 1 inch. doing a bit of math, i came out to an average of 2.25 yards per degree change
