I'm just glad John Daly had the $$$ for gas money to get to the dinner and the tournament.

I think there are some occasions in your life where you have at least to try to dress properly... I think this is just making you ridiculous in front of everyone... IMHO

^^^This. I normally don't care about stuff like this but there times & places where a certain dress code should be observed.

True. I think what you say about the invite including preferred dress is spot on. If the host requests it, you should try to honor that. But if you don't, who am I to judge really.
