Dustin and Sunday have a rough history. If he can avoid it all together, it gets done...hmm.

Good for him, though.

Every player played today as a final round ... I don't know if I'd say DJ crossed a small hump of sorts but he did what he had to do on the clear final day of a tournament.

The only hump DJ need to get over is winning a major. This wasn't a major.

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

I agree whole-heartedly ... but I think a couple posters are hinting that today was a like a "sneak-win" where the Sunday (pressure-filled) round was canceled w/o warning. Not the case here.

He proved at the BMW he can win (even though he'd proved that previously) and he's been struggling this season with new equipment. I wouldn't bet against him. Then again I wouldn't bet a lot on him either. He is who he is.

He came so close at The British. I think wins like these will only get him closer to that major win.

I like DJ and think he is a very talented golfer but this win wasn't very big in my eyes. It was a 3 day tournament on a course that gave up a lot of low scores today so if DJ hit decent tee shots he had a very good chance of winning. I was actually more surprised Kuchar didn't shoot a lower score with the easy conditions. Kuchar stumbled a bit today and DJ took advantage of it with a great round but I wouldn't say it's a major step for him. However I'm the first one to say that a win is a win no matter how you look at it so congrats DJ.

As topspin said, all the players left knew it was the final round. But only thing to away from Dustin Johnson was that playing under par for 54 holes is one less day to get mentally worn out.

So if one of the 2012 majors will be on 3 days, ladies and gents, we have a winner! :D

Dustin Johnson now up to a career high 4th in the world. This means the top 4 in the world ranking have a combined 0 majors between them.

When a player records 19 under par for 3 rounds I think you have to question the Course.
To me it is clearly not long enough for these pros, it looked more like a pitch and putt course!

And the cut was -3!

I liked the length and some of the holes were great especially the drivable 18th. What allowed them to go so low was the wet conditions if they would have been able to firm up the greens the scores would have been higher.

Dustin Johnson seriously has to be the most up and down golfer in the PGA, everyone was so hyped about Mcilroy when he finally won, but seriously DJ has had some pretty serious tournaments this year, and many outstanding rounds, I think I would pick DJ over Rory, what do you guys think?

" I think I would pick DJ over Rory, what do you guys think?"

DJ is a fantastic player, and he and Rory look pretty close in ability right now, but Rory is 5 years younger. I fully expect Rory to have the better career by far.

    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
