Some how I miss counted when I put together my set.  I may have left the putter out of my original count.  Which club would you take out and why.  I was thinking one of my Wedges but am open to thoughts and suggestions.

Lose the 5 wood - distance wise it will be close enough to your 3 hybrid

I would choose between the 5 wood and your 3 hybrid. I'm thinking the distance for the 5 wood and 3 hybrid would be similar. Choose one that you hit better and take the other out.

If you want to take out 1 of your wedges, as long as you don't have a large distance gap, I would say that's an option too, but it all depends on how far you hit it them.

Ryan

I figured on the 5 wood  it has the same loft as my 3 hybrid.  I like the hybrid when i'm in thicker stuff.

funny, i struggle with this all the time ... ad nauseum.     What more fun it would be if they let us have 15 clubs - just that 1 extra club would make a world of difference.    Lose the 5 wood - mine gathers dust now that I have learned how to hit hybrids ...

I'm in the same boat ... constantly struggle with whether or not to keep the 3iron in the bag now that I carry a 2h (I don't hit the 2h all that much farther - but like each for different reasons).

It would be nice to carry 15!

Play a half dozen rounds with all 15 clubs and keep track of which ones you use and how often. My first thought is one of the woods. I like to tee off with the 3 wood on a bunch of holes so I would drop the 5 wood since the 3 hybrid is a similiar distance club . If you don't hit the 4 iron well that is another possibility.

At the other end I would consider dropping the lob wedge. I would rather have a couple clubs and shots I feel comfortable with (and have time to practice) rather than a more options but no faith in them. There are definitely a couple times a round where if I had confidence in my 60 wedge it would be the right club to play but I find I can do an ok approximation using another shot. Your course (and skills) might suggest something different.

I've grown to like my 60 and use it a ton around the green.  I'm gonna take the 5 wood out for the time being.  It makes the most sense.

I carry 13. Built my irons one at a time and have yet to buy a 6-iron. I hit the 5-iron a wide range of yardages by choking up a little here and there. I thought I'd see if I missed it and I have not missed it yet. Perhaps if I played longer courses more often I'd find myself in that 165 gap. more often No gap so far. Depending on wind, lie, elevation changes... I can hit my seven very full (not hard) or choke up on a 5-iron.

So, if you end up longing for your 5-wood, consider losing your 5-iron if you still need the 4-iron.

Solid advice!  Thanks for the suggestion.   I hit my 3 Hybrid just as far as the 5 if not further.    There are a couple long par 3's that i like using the 5 on though.

I would ditch the 5 wood AND the 4iron and get a 4 hybrid :D

That's not a bad Idea.  Is it normal to play a hybrid longer than a normal Iron??

If you like and hit you lob wedge well and handle your hybrid ok, then the 5 wood is likely just taking up space in your bag.

Well I bought a 14 way bag so there isn't room for the 5 Wood so I posted it on Craigslist.    I hit my 3 hybrid well enough to sacrifice the 5 Wood

A hybrid/rescue has more utility than the 5w so I'd say keep the hybrid myself.

I added a 4h to my set when I played my old irons to keep the lofts consistent but have found that more often than not nowadays I hit my 4i as far as my hybrid. May even look at a 3h myself to make my lofts more consistent:

Driver = 10.5°

3w = 15°

4h = 21° <<< Swapping out for 3h @ 18° or 19°

4i = 22.5°

5i = 25.5°

EDIT: 4h swapped out for 3h today @ 19°

I'd say that's a good call!  I like the burner Rescues personally.  I hit the R11 and liked them also.
