I like to think that i am good out of the sand when im around the green, but when i am outside of 80 yards i am lost on what to do. I can never seem to hit a good shot out of the sand, i tent to chunk it out of the sand on a full swing shot, or i will just top the ball trying to not take any sand. so how do you play a full swing shot out of the sand?

First off, accept the fact that an 80 yard bunker shot is one of the toughest shots you will face, as you probably already know. But it's one that can be made easier by incorporating a couple of things:

1)  Play the ball back a bit in your stance.  You want to make sure to hit the ball before the sand.

2)  Dig your feet in a little, but not as much as when you are in a greenside bunker.  But enough to ensure solid footing.

3)  Because you are now an inch or so lower, choke up on your club an inch.

4)  Try to keep your lower body as still as possible throughout the swing. Try for a more level swing.

5)  Take one more club.  In this example, I would take a pitching wedge, not a sand wedge.

This type of shot takes a bit of practice to get confident in it. But, at your level (4-8 cap) you should be able to hit the green most of the time (assuming a decent lie and not a huge lip to get over). But it does take practice.  Good luck!

thanks Harmonious, im sure those tips will help
