yea...maybe so...  I admit....my apologies...

I'm just not looking for a $10 ebay item to replace my old faithful. I have higher standards......... In fact I am shocked that I even chose the R9 from the budget rack.........had I not seen the numbers off the launch monitor, there is no way in hell I would have gone in that direction.  Weird how things work out......

Well, thank goodness that old, underperforming, outdated thing broke then.  Sounds like you don't need any advice from anyone...

I don't think driver technology is advancing quite as fast as the manufacturers would like us to believe.  I'm glad you found one that worked for you in the bargain bin.

Golf aside....your cards are in the WS.....enjoy the ride!!

When it comes to golf, I move forward.... I'm a little shocked that I chose the R9.......why not the 11?

Testing favored the 9...weird.....

I do...just take a look at the tour driving averages over the past 5,10,15yrs....its rather dramatic!!

It wasn't long ago that a 285yd average would put you in the top 5........now it's worse than bottom half of tour average.  IE....133rd on tour.....

No one is suggesting getting a 5, 10, or 15 year old driver.  The FT-5 is 3 years old.  Not dramatically different than anything made today.  Which is the answer to your question of why the R9 and not the R11...

Over 15 years sure but the difference between the R9 and R11 is 1 year not 15 which is likely why you didn't see a difference on the launch monitor.

I've had a chance to use the R9 super tri a couple times now.....I really like it!!  Launch monitors don't lie and I highly recommend anyone in the market for a driver to see out a place that has one so you can do some serious driver testing.

and.........McDowell used an FT-3 to win the U.S. Open.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I have a confession to make...........I was boozin' just a tad bit on the evening on the 24th when I made those evening posts.  hence......every post was waaaay over the top.  LOL

I was truly bummed when my driver was shattered as you can tell by the original post, but I got over it quick.......LOL  Think of it like this......  it's like getting over an ex-girlfriend when when you find a new one...LOL

Well...I have official found a new one.

So far....it feels like a nice upgrade, but it's really too soon to tell because I've only played a few rounds with it.  My initial impression is this driver is even better!!  Life is good!!!

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
