Why Understanding the Ball Flight Laws is Important

Yeah, kinda.

A ball curves right because the face is pointing right of the path.

But 99.8% of slicers hit the ball with the clubface pointing LEFT of the target. It's just that their path is so much farther left, the face is "closed to the target, open to the path." I'm trying to make myself say "left of target, open to the path," but it's slow to catch on.

You can answer your duck-hook question yourself. If the ball starts left, the clubface is pointing left. If it hooks from there the face is also left of the path.

Classic golf instruction uses the words "open" and "closed" and the average golfer hears "to the target."
