I was wondering if alignment marks were just for putting or if they can also help straighten out drives a bit.  It also seems like it might be handy in a scramble format.  Since you can place your ball, it seems like it might help me learn to line up with the flagstick.  Or might I get used to using it and then not be able to line up properly without it?

Anyone had any experience using them as a training aid?

I use the lines on my ball to line up my tee shots. I think it helps and gives me confidence that I am set up on my desired line -- especially when the box encourages you to line up wrong.

Many balls have a small line of lettering, ie, the letters PRO V1 have arrows as part of the lettering line, which without adding any marks helps me align putts as well as tee shots.

Honstly, the only time i care about whats on the ball is when i putt, thats when i like to see nothing but white. I use to line it up, but then i would just take forever and tinker with the line. So i just dont worry about it anymore.
