Hi all, first off idk if this is in the right place maybe a moderator could help me out, and i've searched a lot and gotten a lot of solid information but no exact answer. Anyway I'm currently finishing up my four year degree in business management and was wondering what the best way of going about getting PGA accredited would be afterword. Would you suggest doing it on my own or going way of one of the Golf schools like Keiser or PGA of america. I want to make sure I graduate as a class A pro and would be good to go after that. Thanks for the help

I recommend doing it on your own. BUT you need to find a pro willing to take you on as an apprentice. If you can't do that, you may have to go to a "school" or do something like that. I've heard some of the schools can be shady, though, so make sure you really know what you'll get at the end.

Find a pro / club and do it on your own... I'd highly recommend trying to work dues / education into your contract... Accreditation isn't cheap. There also used to be an accelerated program in Florida to get through the levels quicker but not sure if it is still offered.  The side schools like Golf Academy of America etc don't get you any closer to actual PGA accrediation but will give you a good idea of what to expect.  Good Luck !!!

Definitely try on your own first by working under a Class A as an apprentice.  Don't expect to make much money, even though you have a degree (it will help you later as you move up the food chain).  Brettzky suggested trying to work out the education piece as part of the package which is a great idea and something that a better, more established club would be willing to do.

Thanks for all the advice Im going to try it on my own first when I get out this way I also avoid paying for those expensive schools. I don't mind not making much money in the beginning as I'll be doing something I love

    • Its way past time both tours  have  major  penalties for  slow  play. I  hate  it when they say" This group is  on the  clock". Big damn deal. Issue  penalties. Maybe Hull is a  bit too harsh but  its time a slew  of  2 stroke  penalties start  being  issued.     Charley Hull is fed up with slow play on the LPGA, so she offered a ‘ruthless’ solution “I’m quite ruthless, but I said, ‘Listen, if you get three bad timings, every time it’s a tee shot penalty; if you have three of them, you lose your Tour card instantly.’ I’m sure that would hurry a lot of people up, and they won’t want to lose their Tour card. That would kill the slow play, but they would never do that.” Who knows if that will work. But if it does not, maybe the PGA Tour should adopt Hull’s idea. The LPGA should, too, or at least assess penalty strokes for slow play. Five-hour rounds for a final group on Sunday is unacceptable and a quick way to lose interest and engagement from fans.

    • A hair under 190. It was pretty downhill, though, so I think we were playing between 180-185 to the pin. My 6 iron went 187 according to shot scope and ended up 18 feet away.
    • That's a tough pin on 14 at TR, had to make the hole play much longer, how far was that shot? I've only played that hole with a front pin.
    • No, but I spent (marginally) less time in the trees at Southern Pines, so it definitely played wider for me 😆. It definitely felt wider.
