YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

That would be so amazingly fantastic.

Yeah what berry is doing is great and all but if i were to go to the game where he hit the record breaking home run i would honestly BOO him. Not because he May or May not be a cheater, i would do this because the guy is an all around *******. OOO yeah i cant wait TILL AROD retires with like 900 HR. GO YANKEES

Screw that... I want Ken Griffey Jr. to do it, and I'm no reds fan. I just always loved watching Griffey hit the ball, especially back in his Seattle days. The guy has always had talent and there has never been any question about him using steroids. He probably doesn't weigh more than 20 lbs more than what he did when he was a rookie. I think he has over 600 HR's right now. I don't know how many more season he has left in him, but it sure would be cool.

Looks like Barry will be starting in the All Star Game. From espn.com:

The Giants star overcame a 119,000-vote deficit in the final days of balloting and finished 123,000 ahead of the Chicago Cubs' Alfonso Soriano on Sunday to claim the third and final starting outfield spot for the National League.

I wonder how much this has to do with the game being held in his hometown. It seems like fans in every other city despise him.

As a Reds fan I'd like to see Griffey do it, but between all his injuries he's lucky to get a single crack at the ball.

As to Bonds...I dont care how many homers he hits. Hank Aaron still has the record in my book.

Best thing I've heard in a long time. And not a bad idea, either.

The whole Barry Bonds thing is sad. It seems everyone (myself included) is rooting for something to happen to the guy so he can't get the record. Other than that... nobody really cares. But what is sad is different from McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro, etc., Bonds didn't need the juice to be a special, hall of fame player.

I would absolutely love to see Griffey do it. There's one guy who is a natural talent and his integrity has never been questioned. Oh yeah, and I've got like 100-something of his rookie cards. But I don't see it happening. He just can't stay healthy and he's still got a long ways to go. If he had stayed even moderately healthy the past 5 years or so then I bet he would have done it. It's too bad. Once Bonds does break the record, I'm pretty much on board for anyone, who hasn't been linked to steroids to break it. Even if that means one of my least favorite players A-Rod doing it.

Any predictions on what day he will have a higher total than Mr. Aaron?

I would have said the same day common sense went out the window, but that went out long ago (perhaps when O.J. was acquitted).

I'm hoping that Bonds & Kobe Bryant have a major collision and neither can get up. They are two of the worst role models in the history of sports. Of course, there are also your Mike Tysons & etc., etc.

That would be the happiest day in sports history. I also hope Vick is standing between them when they colide.

I hate Bonds, but not as much for being a cheater. There is no question that he has been using for a long time. The problem is that he has never been truly caught. All the Balco stuff took place before steroids were on the banned list. Now he is either "clean" or more likely using something that is still untestable. The cheaters are always ahead of the law. The bigger issue to me is that he is simply an A-Hole. He is a bad guy that could have embraced the fans and the media years ago when he was knocking McGuire out of the record books. Instead he chose to give everyone a big F You. I hope A-Rod catches him quickly. I also hope A-Rod breaks the single season record this year. It will give people something to focus on other than Bonds. Bonds was a great baseball player, possibly Hall Of Fame material, before the roids. Now he may end his career with the best numbers in history and not get in.

I was at a Reds game last week and saw a t-shirt that said it all:

Hank did it with class,
Barry did it with needles in his ass"

I got home late last night and was looking for the score of the Tiger's game. I put on Fox Sports and they didn't have the ticker going, so I went down one channel to ESPN2 and the Giants game was on. There was a banner at the top that showed Bonds would be up 2nd in the bottom of the inning. I had a terrible feeling that it would happen in that at bat, so as much as I hate him I stayed up to watch. The top of the 5th took forever and he finally came up at about midnight my time. Unfortunately the pitcher was not able to hit him in the face with a pitch. It's too bad really that it has gotten to where it has. Bonds now holds the two greatest records in baseball and he might be the most hated athlete in history. He didn't have to kiss babies and help old ladies cross the street, but if he had just tried not to be such an A Hole he could have made it a great occasion. Instead, he will always be tainted.

Class move by Hank Aaron for the recorded message that played on the big screen at the game after the record. Typical of the kind of guy he is. Even if he is probably pulling hard for A Rod to start mashing at a record pace and pass Bonds, he still did the right thing. There was no reason to lower himself to Bonds level.

Anybody really paying attention to Barry Bonds this year and his chase to break the homerun record...I am slightly interested only because I love history and to witness something this monumental would be awesome...that is until A-Rod breaks the record

First of all... GO YANKEES! I have been brainwashed since day 1 to root for the Yankees by my father. No complaints though

Even thought Bonds is juiced up you have to admit he does have a great swing and great athletic talent. Too bad to see his record degraded by the fact that he has taken steroids (although totally justified). It just shows how much these already great athletes feel the pressure to compromise their professional integrity by trying to gain a competitive edge over their peers pretty much through any means. Shame shame. Hope we do not see too much of this in golf. Uproot them while they are young!
