Well, recently my 56 and I had a mishap and it was not covered in insurance and will need to be replaced.

I currently have a Mizuno MPT-11 52 that I like and will most likely look into their 56.

Two questions - Anyone have thoughts on the MPT-11's now that they've been out longer?  I'm considering trying to get anywhere from 8-10 on bounce for 56.  I hit mine quite a bit from the fairway which is hard as a rock, but our bunkers are fluffy too.  Is 10 a happy medium?

The MP T11's appear to be great. I thank Im picking em up after I get some christmas money too.

I would go with a lower bounce, say 8, because by opening the face wide in bunkers you expose all of that bounce which is all you need provided you make a long shallow divot. Chances are, you're hitting those 95 yarders into the green more than your trying to save par from a bunker. IMO

That is what I was kind of thinking.  If I'm thinking right, lower bounce off tight lies is more room for error.  I've hit my fair shair of thin shots w/ the 14 bounce I had.  I've also hit a 10 out of a bunker of a buddy fine, so I think you are on the right track of 8.

Thanks.

Bounce is only a number - look at the sole of the MP T11 56-10. You must account for the grind, sole width and relief.

The 56-10 has heel and toe relief and it does not appear wide from its pics -- so it ought to be versatile around the greens and useful on the fairway. On the fairway, even on solid ground, keep the handle ahead of the club head and you ought to have no issues. Don't go lower than 10.

Stan Utley uses a 58-12 and can hit it off concrete into the air -- as I said, bounce by itself does not tell the story.

I hate to say the cliche' answer but perhaps a wedge fitting? This is probs way out of most price ranges, but if you pick the RTG finish on clevelandgolf.com/mycustomwedge you can pick from like 6 grind options
