Last year I got a moulded-grip laser pointer golf "training" tool, a "putting practice kit" which consisted of 4 pieces of balsa wood that screw together to make a shaft and an aluminium head and a 36 Dunlop PoS balls on special at a local sports shop.

I told people never to buy me golf-related stuff again unless it's something I've requested otherwise they're wasting money.

This year I got "The Natural Golf Swing" by Knudson and "Harvey Penick's Little Red Book" as requested.

I got a lot of golf balls but I'm guessing that was based on the fact no one knew what to get me. They all got me pro v1s so I definitely scored and even my fiance got me golf balls which generally are cheap balls but I'll use in the winter. However this year she got me nike tours as a stocking stuffer mainly because target had them discounted to 17.99. I also got myself a ping i15 hybrid with some pro shop credit I had that expired at the end of the year. I don't need a hybrid or any club but it was in the pro shop so I picked it and will take it to the range to see what happens.

Hahaha.....golf gifts are forbidden.  My family knows not to buy me golf related items. Once in a blue moon, I'll ask for a very specific stocking stuffer, but that's about it..

What's in Paul's Bag:

- Big Bertha Alpha 815 3-wood
- Callaway Razr Fit 5-wood
- Callaway Big Bertha 4-5 Rescue Clubs

Got some Callaway Tour i(s)'s, some long tees, a bunch of crappy balls, a golf fact book, a coffee mug that says "sunday driver" on it with a golf course in the background, and my gag gift this year was a ball pouch in the shape of a ballsack that says "it takes balls to golf" on it.

Needless to say I will NOT be hanging that off my golf bag.

Whattt? My "mysack" is already on my golf bag and I believe it improved my drives by almost 20 yards. I'm more focused now as a bad shot results in a lot of "Hey... take your balls off of your golf bag and tuck them back in your pants, Sally!".

(I got one of these as well... unfortunately lol)

    • Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
    • Caution for the seniors on weight training: Listen to your body. (I'm 75) I got a recent session with an orthopedist after a training-related injury. I put too much weight on a new resistance machine at the gym and ended up with bursitis in my left hip. Of course, it's the hip I dislocated back in 2023. I have my first physical therapy session tomorrow. I remarked that some days I can do 45 lbs. chest press - two sets - without much effort. But other days it drops down to 30 (😩) with just one set. (Complicating factor: I had digestive problems in this fall and lost about 20 lbs., with slip in muscle tone.) Orthopedist said that I want to feel some resistence, but that I should go with lots of reps with manageable weights rather than trying to set some sort of lift-pound record. I'm sure I'll get some refinements on lifting during tomorrow's PT.
