I've been playing golf 20 years in frigid Midwest cold and managed a new career personal best for 'most January rounds played!" Keep in mind, I AM NOT retired so golf is limited to weekend play because of the short days.  My previous record was 8 1/2 rounds set way back in January of 1993!!  .............and I crushed it in 2012....... 12 rounds +5 holes !!!

PS...I confess, I did skip out of work at noon today(TUE) and played 18.  Today is January 31st and it was sunny & 60.....I had to do it!!   I already had the new record locked, but I wanted to EXTEND IT!   LOL

Yeaaaa!!!!  I love it...

Congrats!! Part of the reason you broke your record is due to the unseasonably warm weather we've had. 60's in January?? Yeah, I've only made it out once...so definitely jealous.

believe U me........I played several "COLD WEATHER" golf rounds to set my new record. Yes.....snow has avoided my area, but playing 12 rounds in January=playing some golf in very frigid cold conditions.

It wasn't all warm and fuzzy.. it's been freekin' cold too....cold enough to shatter golf balls on impact.  I've teed off when wind chills were in the teens/20s...

The record is still lucky because we have had no snow.  If it snows, there is no golf........If it's just cold, I can adapt.....LOL

PS...playing to rock-hard frozen greens is no fun..................

Congrats on the new record. Just remember, records are meant to be broken! Still, that is a lot of golf.

I love global warming (I'm sure skiers would disagree) !!     I've got 2 rounds in so far in January & a bunch of outdoor practice field (range) sessions - amazing.

Congrats! I also set a record this year, I got out for 7 complete rounds and 2 nine hole rounds. About the same weather as you but it was probably a little colder by you, I tee'd off when it was 24 degrees a few times. Just as long as you dress warm and have some hand warmers you are good to go! Although, I don't think I've ever golfed in January before this year, as last year was my first year of being dedicated to my golf game. And this year I've set the bar even higher which will require more golf :)

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
