We are netflix users and we recieved the Bobby Jones movie yesterday. I thought that it was a great movie. For those of you who haven't seen it, it explored his youth, his accomplishments as an amateur golfer and his extrodinary life. I thought some of you might enjoy seeing it. He remains the only man to have won the grand slam of golf in a single season. It shows his interaction with the professionals of his day and competition with the great Henry Vardon.

I especially enjoyed some of the footage of the real Bob Jones in the special features. Good golf history.

Bah, I'm a little late. I wanted to be the first to mention the movie. I rented it the other day but was planning on watching it this weekend. I also was planning on posting a full review in my blog (so feel free to check that out after the weekend if you're interested).

It is great to hear that you enjoyed it. Hopefully I will, too. Jones was an amazing man and golfer. Can you imagine if he'd never stopped playing? Where would his place in history been then?

It may have perhaps not been as high. Part of his mystique is that he went out on top.

I finally watched it tonight. I really thought it was solid, but it maybe wasn't as great as I expected. But still, it was worth the rent for sure.

I didn't know he lived until he was 69. I thought his health was much worse than that and that he died much younger.

He seemed to definitely have the natural talent, but I agree with Erik that his mystique was going out on top. If he played for 10 or 15 more years, he could have gone winless (although unlikely) and really fallen down the list of great golfers.

Good movie though, and I guess I'm a little late in watching it.

I enjoyed it too. I didn't realize how sick he got at times. I with they would have gone farther into his life and into the Augusta National building years though!

I love watching those old Bobby Jones instructional moves on TGC. He was not only amazing on the golf course but he was a brilliant man.

Only him and Bryon Nelson both retired at there peak. I agree it was a great movie, I watched a cople of weeks ago

    • I  had to return to boast  just a  bit. Everyone  knows  i thought  this  is  how the Championship should  be decided. Match play is far  better than stroke  play to determine a  champion and  its  much closer to most sports  playoffs. Lose and you are  out.     Promotion, relegation and match play: PGA Tour unveils radical new structure The PGA Tour has revealed its planned changes to its competitive model, schedule and playoffs, changes that will be more substantial than any in the Tour's half-century-long history. How will the PGA Tour series wrap up its season? The current PGA Tour playoff format consists of three stroke-play events, concluding with the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Starting in 2028, the Tour's playoff system will feature match play, and will rotate through various courses. Further details will be revealed at this year's Tour Championship next month.
    • Posted a couple swings here. I think my attempt to blend the movement still results in a more “around” back swing?
    • I never heard dislike for them.  From my perspective, they are just like any other club. Though, they were always probably over-priced, until recently as other club manufacturers have been raising prices the past 5+ years. You had to wait for them to go on sale, which you can get them closer to other club manufacturers.  They sell good clubs. Nothing crazy..
    • Why do so many people dislike PXG clubs and constantly criticize them? All the folks at my club and especially online, I never hear good things about them except from people who bought them and defend them. They look fine to me but curious is there some sort of quality issue or is it just stereotyping the buyers.
    • I have the LM1 launch monitor and I’ve been very impressed. I agree with your assessment and it’s very accurate for me and ease of use is wonderful. The price point of $199 is very hard to beat with this form factor and performance. I was previously using a PRGR.
