Maybe you should hit every par three with previous group still on green so you get a witness for your HIO

If i hit a hole in one, then i would hit a hole in one. A moment in time can not be denied just because someone else is not there. Thats like saying, does a tree make a sound if it falls in the woods and no ones around. Its going to make a sound, saying its not just because you can not be there to hear it is idiotic. But the thing is, claiming a hole in one is claiming a score, so you have to justify it under the same logic as every other score you shoot on the course that day. Meaning, if your alone, you can claim a hole in one because claiming otherwise would be falsifying your score. If were assuming in golf that we are giving the singe player a benefit of the doubt, then we must do the same for holes in ones.  You can also have just as easily two people who are in it together, "Hey lets say you got a hole in one on this course, i will contest you did, and sign your card" So really any score on any hole is determined by the honesty of the player(s) playing that hole at the time. Which means a single player can claim a hole in one if he is honest with it.

Not really what I'm trying to say though... I don't really give a crap if somebody is there to attest to it or not; if you legitimately make a hole in one than that's what it is.  It's just a cool accomplishment and, for me, I'd like somebody to be there to see it.

And that was my sole point, right there.  Of course, you will always know you made the hole in one, but without somebody there to see it (granted, preferably an aquaintance that you could retell the story with) it would never quite be the same.

Trust me on this one, nobody wants to participate in the retelling of a hole-in-one unless they were the one who did it.

There will always be those types of people out on the course now and then. He was clearly upset that you didn't want him to join. That still doesn't give him the right to blast a ball past you. You're right, if that hit you it could be been very bad. You should have taken his ball and threw it in some fescue jk.

It sounds like it was just a crappy situation all around. I hope you brushed it off and still had a great day.

If you make enough noise surely someone would surely believe it. Screaming guy on the 16th, I'd sign the card ;)

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
