Finally getting to play this fantastic course tomorrow.

Hoakalei is a 7400-yard Ernie Els course on the Ewa Plain on Oahu, Hawaii.  Course opened in 2009 and gets very little play.  From what I've heard and seen, this very well might be the best course on Oahu, so I'm stoked to finally be able to play it.  I should be able to get two or three rounds in over the next six weeks or so.  I'll post a review on Sunday.

So my last venture to this course didn't put me in a very good frame of mind for a review.  It was a great course, but the 30MPH winds, sanded greens, and monumental struggle just to shoot 79 didn't leave me with good memories of most of the holes.

I'm trying again on Sunday, this time in the am so maybe the wind will be more manageable.  Will definitely post a review this time, one way or another.

      How Can I Improve My Focus During a Round Without Distractions?

      It isn't about maintaining focus 100% of the time when you are on the course. It is getting focus back for the shot at hand. Even PGA tour players will chat with their caddies or opponents about non-golf stuff, but then lock in. It is hard to try to constantly be 100% locked in for 4+ hours.  Totally normal thing to happen. You really only need a few moments of focus.  This is where a pre-shot routine helps. Maybe you need to add something that gets the focus back.  I just focus on every shot like a puzzle that needs solved. I like solving puzzle and problems. So, I try to be curious. Which then enhances focus. I think it lets me take each shot at hand. It lets me have the down time between shots. What I do is just get to the ball, and then start gathering information. Yardage, lie, wind, where is the pin at, etc.. Then I figure out what I want to do.  It's not like I can't shut off the thoughts and focus when I need to. I only need to focus for a few minutes before each shot.
