Just wondering if anyone here is familiar with the executive course at Smithtown Landing. Would it be a good course for a first time venture out on a golf course?

Gull Haven or Heatherwood are both ideal courses for beginners; I've never been to Smithtown Landing though. Heatherwood is 18 holes and has a 20$ greens fee for afternoon play, while Gull haven is a bit cheaper but only 9 holes.

I realize this is an oldie, but...yes!  That's where I got started.

I wish you didn't have to be a resident to play there.  I would love to play a round there when visiting my parents.

Heatherwood is a great executive course to really work on your iron play and course management.

      Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.

      I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.

      Day 6  (26 Jun 26) - Played 18 today in the Friday men's group shootout.  Would love to say it was an awesome round, but it wasn't  - had a tough day with the putter (especially on the front - short putts missing left or right or just short - just could not get a feel for the greens).
