Hi everyone, just joined up.

Been golfing twice, and I'm hooked!  I first borrowed a friends set, and then my dad dug out a complete set from the garage he never used (he got them at a yard sale or somewhere).

The set is great for just learning, it has PW-9 irons and 1-3 metal wood clubs.  They're all cheap clubs but perfect for just getting out to the range.

Out of curiosity I looked up the clubs, but can not find any info on the woods.  The irons are old Spalding elite plus muscleback clubs.  I need to re-grip them, and I don't think they are anything special, but they work for learning.

My question is on the woods.  I can not find any info on them anywhere on the net.  On the heads they say, "Penna Golf".  There are 1, 3, and 5 clubs with 10 1/2, 15, and 22 degree loft.  They're mounted on Apollo AP46 R Flex shafts.  The shafts my be aftermarket, as they do not look as old as the heads.

Has anyone ever heard of Penna Golf?  I found some results for the Golfer, Toney Penna, but nothing specifically on a company or club model called Penna Golf.  And no google image searches return pictures that look anything like these woods.

I'm just curious, and wondered if anyone out there knew anything about them.  Thanks.

can't say that I have....but I found that Tony Penna is the founder, he is quite old (died in 95) and is Italian. He won four Tour events. Until he got his own company, he designed many innovative designs for Macregor. Below is the Ebay buyer's guide for the clubs. They seem legit, just old. Anyways........

Toney Penna Golf gave birth to a company called Nicklaus Golf back in the early 90s operating out of Jupiter Florida.

No offense but old muscle back clubs are going to do you no favors.  A set of Callaway X20's are $300 new.  Find a nice used set if money is tight.  Something made in the last decade would be preferable.

Ask this question on golfwrx. I think Toney's nephew(?) is member there.

I would like to have Penna persimmons, just to admire at least.

Thanks, everyone, for the information.  Like I said, I'm still very new to the sport and really just curious about the gear I'm using.  I appreciate everyone's input.
