3/4 Swing.

I searched high and low for the thread started by iacas that said most people should feel like they are taking a 3/4 swing because they are over swinging. I use a 3/4 swing for 100 and in distances with different clubs. It is a slower swing. I was at the range and I decided to try a "3/4" swing with my 5 iron thinking maybe it is a shot for a shorter then 5 iron distances with a controlled low trajectory shot. Low and behold I hit a controlled low traj flight pure to stock 5 iron distance. I am sure the feeling of a 3/4 shot was not 3/4 but to be the feeling is 3/4 backswing (arms parallel to the ground) 80% power and I hit much more pure shots. I am going to take it to the course today the there are gusts to 30 mph so a lower traj sounds great! Iacas where is that thread I looked down 7 pages and gave up.

Glad to hear. When I started marking my swing more compact I found I hit it just about as far with much more control and more hits off the center of the club-face.

Under any kind of pressure shot I usually go to the 3/4 swing. Like you said it might not be 3/4 but I have a lot of confidence in it. It is kind of like my go to swing if the round is going the way I want or if I really need to make a good shot. I think it is good to be able to have a shorter swing in the bag in case you need a confidence boost

I agree..you feel it's 3/4 but it's not..which is a good thing.  I play "3/4" swing all the time.

Yes that's the one.

Played in wind Sunday 20+ gusting to 30mph.  Made much better contact, more confident.  Did not show up in the score because I could not judge distance.  Everything was effected by the wind even putts!  The ball was dancing when you were getting ready to putt it.
