I may take a chance on either the J33CB or J36CB.  I have hit the J38 and J40 and loved them.  I would probably like all the Bridgestone irons.

Are there any main differences between the 33 and 36?

I don't think you'll find much of a difference. They're both forged from the same carbon steel, the lofts are the same, the lengths are nearly identical, but the offset is a touch different (more on the 33s) and the sole design is slightly different. The 36s do come with Project X shafts while the 33s come with Dynamic Golds, and both of then have the old grooves. The 36s are, obvioulsy, "3" better than the 33s. :-D

As Jamo says they play pretty much the same. I have the 36's and they are great irons. I haven't found anything yet to take them out of my bag.

I totally agree with the combo sets.  I could get one locally but the J33 combos are pretty ugly.  Thanks for the info.  This is very helpful.

shhhhh!  I've been watching those ebay sales this afternoon too.  There are some great deals on Bridgestone irons.  I'm leaning towards the J33CBs though.

I am more of a sweeper and don't take much of a divot... would one of the sole designs be more favorable to my kind of swing?

I'm a sweeper too and the J36CB's work fine for me.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
