Ive got 2 blisters on my left thumb (right hander) and the sole of it is really sore. The last couple days at the range i have really been working on getting that flat left wrist and hitting down on the ball so i don't know if i changed something but i have hit quite a few balls the last couple day. Probably around 250?

I was wondering if this is normal or if there is something wrong with my grip. Ive never had this before while wearing a glove.

Thanks!

are you hitting off matts? if your trying to get a flatter left wrist and hiting down more on the ball whilst on matts then you are increasing the resistance at impact possibly causing the club to turn/twist and even slide through your hands causing you blisters,...

i get them predominently on my ring fingers of both hands, but if ig rip to hard or catch the mat hard it can cause the sole of my left palm to rub/hurt slightly

if your hitting off grass then i have no idea other than holding to tightly perhaps?

no* of balls probably isnt an issue over the time your stating, i hit between 90-180 every other day and rarely get issues

yeah my guess is I'm holding it too tightly and to answer your question i was hitting off grass so I'm not sure whats wrong.

but thanks for the reply!

IMHO, the problem could be as simple as regripping the club at the top of the backswing.Years ago I had a similar problem which caused the glove I was wearing to wear out prematurely in the thumb.

I have been playing without a glove for about three years now, hit hundreds of balls on the range and never get blisters or calluses.

Take a mental note next time your on the range of your hands throughout the swing, feel as if the your hands are connected to the club. COMPLETELY.

Cheers

Yesterday i went out to the range for the first time in about 5-6 days. After hitting about 20-30 balls i could feel my blisters starting again.

That little pain on my left thumb was gone but i have a blister on my right thumb pad and one just below my left thumb pad and then one in-between my thumb and index finger on my left hand.

I don't know if its my grips because its i got my new clubs about 2 years ago and i havent changed grips yet but i don't know how often I'm supposed to change it. Im thinking it may just be the pressure from the grip on those spots when i do the flying wedge.

What do you guys think?

playing off twelve i imagine you play alot,....people recommend re-gripping clubs after every season if used alot

my multi-compounds are on their way out, the chord is just begininng to fray and rub my gloves more than usual

Im opting for golf pride tour wrap 2g this time, pure rubber and sticky as hell, no rubbing issues either

I've found that when you change your grip - especially if you had a strong grip before... And went to a weak/neutral grip... Your natural instinct is to grip the club tighter with increased grip pressure because the club feels like it is going to fly out of your hand.  This increased grip pressure can lead to blisters.

But you also need to consider that changing your grip - can alter your plane as your hinge points may be different.  Initially, you may not be striking the ball as solidly - finding your low point as readily / easily.  Thus causing more shaft vibration/force to enter your hands.  After multiple shots where you are getting more vibration/force into your hands, it could lead to blisters.

Grip changes can take time to feel comfortable with... Just ensure that the changes you are making are solid, that you trust the change and keep at it.  A blister or two will heal!! :D
