I usually get out of the gate pretty well.  I also come down the stretch with solid play.

But amazingly consistently, my game goes through the Twilight Zone in the middle of the round.  Poor contact, sliced drives, horrible putts, etc.  Doubles and triples usually fall here.

Does anyone else experience this?  It feels very mental, like I realize I am playing well which leads to pressure, which leads to tension.  Then I put up a few big scores and a solid round is shot, relieving the pressure and I start to play well again.  But I dunno, maybe it's mechanical and I'm not warming up correctly.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Think about your tempo.  If find that my tempo tends to speed up into the round.  If I collect myself, relax, and slow my takeaway down (or perceive that I do), then I get back into the groove.

Do you play the same course all the time? Maybe it's the holes.
