Hello all - I'm due for new wedges.  There are a couple brands I'm looking at in 56 deg. and 60 deg.

I'm having difficulty deciding on what bounce number to go with.  I live in S. Florida, but I travel for work and mostly golf away from home.  This can be anywhere in the country.  I understand that having wedges with different bounce numbers might be ideal, but that is not the situation that I am in.  I need the best compromise for wedges that I can play anywhere.

What would you all recommend?

Thanks,

Chris

high bounce for soft courses to stop digging in 10/12/14/ degrees

low bounce for hard courses to stop bouncing back up 6/8/10 degrees

id go for 8/10 degrees for a nice balance

Erik and I love the Edel wedges, lots of bounce but the leading edge isn't raised off the ground when you open the face.  http://thesandtrap.com/t/57874/my-edel-wedges-or-super-bounce-and-why-its-good-for-you-or-the-sweet-spot-is-finally-in-the-right-place

I would try to find a wedge with the most bounce you can handle, bounce makes the soft pitch shots and a majority bunkers shots so much easier.  I would not recommend low bounce wedges, encourages too much forward shaft lean.

Thank you guys very much.  Mvmac, those look like some incredible wedges, however out of my price range.

Another question about bounce:  I see a lot of people have different bounce for their different wedges.  What is the theory on this?  If I have (x) amount of bounce on my 56* should the bounce for my 60* have more or less?  And how much?

Thanks again everyone!  I'm so glad I found this site!

Thanks for all the replies.  My Titleist Vokeys came in a couple of days ago.  I ended up with 56*11 and 60*7.  I practiced yesterday with them and played today.  They are much better than what I had and are much more controllable.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
