So this is my first real season of playing..got my own clubs membership and all...I used to play a round every couple years at most..but id go to driving range for fun about the same amount..soo this year i got my driver and always i used to drive the ball 200 yards atleast..usually fighting the slice..soo when i used to swing the club to correct it id close the face abit on my backswing and feel my hips turn quick at impact and it seemed to help the ball fly straight..now ive been into the game big time working lots on iron shots and chipping and have all the sudden seemed to lost my power with driving distance and which it seems to lob up mid flight then hook down left..at the start of this season with my new burner superfast 10.5 reg flex swing speed of 95 miles..i was driving the ball long and dead straight what the hell happend?? beats me..any ideas for now? ive been teeing the ball up so its equator is top of driver and inside my left heel and letting the club rest on ground so face is open on up swing...and im still hooking it with no power....its driving me crazy..whered my long straight powerfull drives go..almost feels like my driver is broken but im sure its me..by the way i can hit my 3 wood dead straight 90 % of the time and 200 plus yards everytime...this is why im confused..

Im a beginner but had what sounds like the exact same problem last year. Ball would be short (looked like a 12-o'clock to 6-o'clock curveball) then dive left. Found I was hitting up on the ball....once I started staying down at contact, things went much better. Now I only have to hit it straight......

I hope your talking about your irons and not the driver as the original poster was referring to To his driver You hit up on the driver, down with irons

Power leaks.  Get one of these, configure it for your height and driver length and make the numbers go higher:

You'll learn to distinguish the difference between really swinging fast and flexing a bunch of muscles that really don't do anything.  Try to beat my all-time high of 134 mph if you want a challenge.

okay..soo i know i should post a video and will but as of now i dont have one..my father inlaw is a good golfer handicap below 10..he watched me today and i was outdriving him nice and staight..i just kinda moved the ball up in my stance and was whipping the driver right before impact and doing what i used to do and was working great..then my father in law said i was moving my hips forward and turning my head back abit with my shoulders and said i should rotate my hips back more with my shoulders..then he said my right hand should rotate counter clockwaise so my right thumb was ontop of the grip instead of behind..the "v" pointed to my right shoulder..well all of this and then i was worst than i ever was...ohh man right when i thaught i had it figured out..soo my question is do what works and feels right or try and work this stuff in a little bit at a time?? il try my best to get a video on here as soon as i can

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
